This article is written in response to Immigration Puts Trump In Front Of The Pack
In 2012 an estimated 700,000 of the 11 million illegal immigrants in the US took to the polls. That sure is a lot of people, and one could certainly see that number as a potential threat to changing the outcome of a close vote. However, when you look at this from a national perspective, an estimated 126 million Americans voted in 2012, giving illegal immigrants less than a 1% platform to stand on in their conspiracy to steal our liberties. That alone ought to settle the fears that it is “already too late” to stop illegal immigration from destroying our country, as these “illegals” have a long way to go to become an organized political majority. Hey, and if they reached a 2 or even 3% platform, the other 90-something million Americans could get off the couch and down to the polls to water them down further if they felt so strongly about it.
I think it’s unfair to paint illegal immigrants as exiled, freedom-hating, women-hating, America-hating rapists of third world ‘hell holes’. I hail from NH, a far cry from border states like Texas and California, so I am not exactly on the front lines of the ongoing battle between the zombie hordes of Mexican immigrants and freedom-loving Americans from those states. However, I have to imagine that it can’t possibly be as grim a situation as these characterizations tend to lead people to believe. I really won’t be baited into the argument, though, as that is what existing laws against illegal immigration and local law enforcement are here for. The most sane assessment of the immigration problem I have heard so far is to enforce the laws that are already on the books, as we haven’t been doing that, and have seen unchecked illegal immigration as a result.
The largest disagreement I have with Morefield’s position is the insistence to put our blinders on and to focus on immigration and nothing else. The most dangerous problem facing America today, and for the past 100 years didn’t even make the list of things we should all should cast to the wayside in favor of hemming and hawing over immigration. We have a country so deep in debt it will never be paid off, and so close to yet another financial crash even greater than the last. However, despite the Government Accountability Office (GAO) investigation in 2011 revealing that the Federal Reserve Bank gave $16 Trillion (yes, Trillion with a ’T’) to banks and financial firms like Goldman Sachs as well as foreign banks and governments, we’re not even talking about it. This is an unelected bunch of financial wizards deciding the future of our economy who are just giving away our livelihood.
For the sake of argument, let’s compare the cost of illegal immigration annually to this insane sum the Fed just created out of thin air and handed out to their cronies. It is estimated that Federal, State & Local governments spend roughly $113 Billion total per year dealing with illegal immigration. That $16T of inflation the Fed introduced to the world economy could cover the cost of illegal immigration for the next 100 years or more. Immigration is less than a drop in the bucket by comparison. Yet, arguing over what we should or shouldn’t do with those “danged illegals” will continue to be the red herring that makes for simple to digest news broadcast and shallow debate fodder that will keep Americans distracted just long enough for the Fed to steal our country from right under our noses.
Even though it appears on the surface that the nation is recovering from the 2008 financial crisis, the Fed continues to increase the money supply, keep interest rates low, and we continue to forfeit large percentages of our paychecks just to pay the interest on money they hand out to the politically connected. China is making moves behind the scenes to create a system to compete with the fiat dollar system the Fed is slowly robbing the world with, and as a result global tensions are rising. Iran isn’t playing nice with central banking, and is refusing to trade oil in US Dollars, and is getting the same propaganda smear of WMDs like Iraq did when it thumbed its nose at the Fed in the same manner. Our future hangs in the balance on these issues. If we continue to follow the establishment’s orders and fight with each other over social issues and ignore the debasement of our currency and the wholesale theft of our livelihood, the joke is truly on us when the whole house of cards comes crashing down.
